About this deal

I've read other books, fantasies about fairy lore, that include the idea of changelings, but I liked the epigraph citations that gave background to the origin of the legend. Essentially, those two themes are what the book boiled down to: is folklore real (or at least, certain stories) or is the mother in the story suffering from postpartum psychosis after giving birth to twin boys? Destiny, on the other hand, is an only child living on a rundown estate with a sickly but devoted mum who constantly tells her that she's really the daughter of a famous former rock star.

What I loved was the blending of the fairy- tale/myth of identical twins and changelings along with the modern day story of a village drowned and a possible murder. Since I am not in that age group of new mothers, or even have children, these details were not important to me, but I can understand it would be appealing to mothers of newborns to identify with Lauren's day to day struggles with nappies and lack of sleep.

Little darlings is definitely one of my favourite books the only thing I would change about it was the way it went like it was all about destiny in the first chapter and all about sunset in the second and then all about destiny in the third chapter and about sunset in the fourth it kinda confused me at the start but now it's definitely one of my favourites! The only other person who seems to believe otherwise is Detective Joanna Harper, though one might feel that her investment in Lauren’s predicament could be because of her own personal demons. When no one believe you, and thinks your experiencing your own bout of postpartum, things will get a little tricky when it comes to convincing everyone and yourself that something is not right with you, "Little Darlings". At once both chilling and captivating, this psychological thriller blends reality and fantasy so well, even you may find a hard time distinguishing what is fact and what is fiction.

The things that he says, and the way he treats his wife, made me wish I could meet him in real life so I could give him a good kick in the shin.

The first bit got be kinda bored, but as we went into the story, it became more vivid ans i found myself Destiny, i was her, and my mum was my mum pretty much obvious, it was real. I read it in a little over a day, and it only took me that long because I have to go to work, blast it all. Sky Kids announces new original commission Little Darlings from bestselling children's author Dame Jacqueline Wilson". I immediately came here to read other reviews looking for clues about what others thought about what I, too, had just read. After Lauren is released back home, strange gifts and sightings of the woman convince her that she must remain vigilant of her children at all times.

Twins that are almost taken in the hospital end up being kidnapped and replaced by twins that are not them. Sunset, Sweetie and Ace all hate her but Suzy even more so as she is very protective of Danny and despises Lizzie very much. Creepy and atmospheric tale about a young mother of newborn twins who is comvinced that someone (or something) is trying to steal them away and replace them with fae creatures. i>Little Darlings is the story of Lauren, a new mother of twins, who is under some serious stress. If you're a fan of dark fairy tales and pyschological suspense, I strongly encourage you to read this book. My only complaint is that there were a few loose threads at the end that I would've preferred to be tied up more tightly (hard to say what they are without getting too spoiler-y). Far from a suspense novel, Little Darlings is a nightmare come true for the exhausted new mother Lauren. On the way to the bathroom, Lauren asked her to quit singing as it could disturb the other patients. They are found shortly after, but Lauren insists the babies are shells with their inner selves gone, replaced with demon-like creatures.

Dark shadows, creepy folktales that are brought to the modern day and age, a frantic mother spending 90% of her time in a psychiatric hospital. The set up, a (contemporary) woman has twin baby boys who are in immediate peril of being stolen away to be replaced by changelings, simply couldn't be more tailor-made for me.I will be recommending this book with full abandon and hope that other readers enjoy this book as much as I have. But she knows what she saw: that night, in her hospital room, a woman tried to take her babies and replace them with her own… creatures. It is about two girls and about how they met and how they keep a relationship going and quite a big and shocking secret is revealed. The child is not mine as the first was, I cannot sing it to rest, I cannot lift it up fatherly and bliss it upon my breast; Yet it lies in my little one's cradle, And sits in my little one's chair, And the light of the heaven she's gone to transfigures its golden hair. Destiny shows her awesome singing talent when she sings Danny's song "Destiny" and is given the last act, being the best talent.
