About this deal

Our maths & English qualifications underpin our apprenticeships and technical qualifications. They build learners’ confidence with the core skills required for employment, including the capacity to problem solve and use technology effectively. They are also key to triggering conditions of funding. The requirement for Level 3 Early Years Educators to hold an approved English and mathematics qualification has been broadened to include other suitable level 2 qualifications, including Functional Skills. This will take effect from 3rd of April 2017. This means that GCSEs are not the only qualifications which will be recognised as meeting the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) requirement to count in staff:child ratios and be recognised as Early Years Educators in the workplace. The revised Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) will come in to force from the 3rd of April 2017 and is available at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2 Upon achievement of this qualification learners will gain their licence to practise and it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators.
