About this deal

if you are still going around in circles and need direct consultation, we have just started providing one-hour consultations via zoom. You can find out more about them via the link below: Even in my home use, I’d rather get everything on 10 Gbps than pay the barely supported premium for 2.5 or 5 Gbps, especially on managed devices.

So far, I have been informed that the Synology DS923+ Expandable and Fully Featured 4-Bay and FOUR new revisions of the Diskstation 2-Bay are in the works. The 2 Bay systems are the Synology DS723+ Expandable Premium NAS, a DS223+ mid-range fully software featured 2-Bay, a DS223 standard value series NAS and, finally, a DS223j cost-effective 2-Bay system. No details on the hardware have been provided, but these will almost certainly follow in the footsteps of previously released Diskstation 2/4-Bay Devices in this hardware tier, such as the DS420+ and DS220+. Unfortunately, I cannot disclose the source of this information. This is as much information as I can share right now, other than a rather wide release window (see at the bottom of the article), that is about it. Now, I can already hear the complaints in the comments about this, but you are going to have to trust me on this one, as I trust the source and in 6 months all this will play out. Additionally, I received further information on other planned Synology hardware accessories/add-ons that I need to verify in the meantime before I publish. So, let’s discuss what we think the hardware of the DS223+ and other Diskstations are likely to be. Now that DS223 and DS723+ have become available, is there any rumor on when DS223+ will be announced/released? Tempted to buy a DS220+ since I wanted to start building my home NAS very soon. Funny how Eddie sometimes makes faces while listening to Robbie as if to say…nah, he really talks too much and too fast… I feel the same way about this DS223 hardware-specs; why in Heaven’s Ways you want to neuter a beginners-user due to so-so (ARM) CPU and not all the “toppings” (features) available (of DSM) when that user grows and may expect/want more but not available unless this NAS is replaced with a more powerful version? (rip-and-replace).

Ese atuendo me vuelve loco fukada-jpp.monster loco contigo y tienes ese cuerpo curvilíneo, hiciste un buen trabajo modelándolo también. También me gusta el último atuendo. Me encantac cómo los cinturones de liga se. Btw I have used my 8 X 4TB WD Red for over 8 years over 2 NASes , and they have been working like a charm (including very tolerable noise level). I gave up on Synology NAS, so I bought a Dell R720 and made that into a NAS BOX. Granted mines Twice the price of synology, but I have 16 cores, 32 treads @3.3Ghz, 192GB of 1866 Ram and 32Tb of storage with dual (redundant) power supplies. Important – So, full disclosure. About 3/4 of the way into the recording, it became clear that the audio between me and Eddie was a bit fragmented and delayed, so apologies if this communication breakdown makes the last portion seem a bit off. Thanks for watching and share your thoughts on this subject in the comments! Have a great week and cheers for watching. The RTD1296 and RTD1619B are both SoCs developed by Realtek, both with 64-bit architecture, and both with 4 cores. However, there are a few key differences between the two:

When it comes to choosing a network-attached storage (NAS) device, the Synology 2-bay Value series offers several options, including the DS220j, DS218, DS218play, and DS223. All of these models share similar features, such as a 64-bit processor architecture and compatibility with 3.5” SATA HDDs, 2.5” SATA HDDs, and 2.5” SATA SSDs. However, there are also some key differences between the models that users should be aware of. Synology Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) – It was always going to be completely off the cards for the DS223 to support the Synology Virtual Machine application. Aside from the 2GB of default memory that cannot be upgraded, the Realtek CPU inside this system is built around instruction compression and efficiency – something VMs are not known for when delivering commands! BUT when it comes to small files aka photos, my god does it take long time, is this normal? its like 1 photo every 3-5sec, its super slow Yes, this is an entry level device but if this was 1985 it would be perfect. This is a sad attempt and is a sub entry level NASI’m the one who watched the whole thing! And some bits twice. Very helpful in trying to decide between a Synology DS923+ and Qnap TS464. Synology seems to have the upper hand software-wise which I suspect carries more weight for a home user than the superior hardware of the Qnap? Thank you for providing this extensive review! The inside of that plactic casing is surprisingly well structured, with a grid framework that maintains quite a rigid feel, despite its plastic material. How much of this framework also possibly dissipate vibration and/or noise might also worth looking into at a later date too. The main SATA storage cage takes up the bulk of the available space, but there is still plenty of space around and behind this for ventilation and active airflow. Synology seem to be ignoring the Plex users and won’t put all the media hardware bits n pieces in the same box at an affordable price and start dominating their competition. Mr Qnap must be Mr synology’s brother in-law or something ???? It’s definitely not in the budget for me yet, but I’m dreaming about a NAS in my setup in the future!

Fun future-proofing story – built my house over 20 years ago. The town had no cable internet yet, but I still had every phone plate box run with 2 Cat 5 cables. First, wired for multiple phone lines, then DSL came. When real ISP came, 4 wires got me 100Mb speed. As we didn’t need the phone lines for dial up, over time I rewired each port to have full 8 wire 1Gb connectivity. Depending on the price delta, I might consider the 1823xs+ you mentioned in the video, if they’re not likely to update the 1621xs+ soon.

NPU: The RTD1619B comes with a NPU (Neural Processing Unit) that is able to perform 1.6TOPS of AI operations. This gives the RTD1619B an edge over the RTD1296 in tasks that require AI-related processing, such as image recognition and machine learning. Awsome information. Now please a similar video on Qnap. I cant make up my mind as I need both photo management and video surveillance. It seems like Qnap and Synology takes 1 point each. I can set up 10gig for way less than I can for 2.5gig, as Enterprise skipped 2.5Gig thus it’s not around in the used market. If you need managed switches, like I do, then 2.5G actually costs more than 10gig. Since regular cat6 cables can handle 10gig speeds over shorter cable lengths, it’s less of an issue than you make it out to be. The one and only thing I don’t like about Synology multimedia apps or drive apps…. Is they TELL you where to put your media AND GENERALLY HAVE TWO-WAY SINK AS DEFAULT In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to tell the difference with both NAS positioned next to each other. The front of the DS223j has five LED indicators and a power button. The two sides have Synology branding and the top and bottom panels are completely bare. Synology DiskStation DS223j. (Source: NM) Side of the Synology DiskStation DS223j. (Source: NM) Rear of the Synology DiskStation DS223j. (Source: NM) Because I haven’t nested in an outside folder public and an outside folder private where all their names are in the private folder so it’s nice and organized It’s quite hard to show, but you can see in the image below how the rear fan, although largely covering the HDD/SSD bays, is also at the top of that smaller cavity for the main controller board, CPU, Memory and ancillary components in the DS223. The metal panel in between the board and storage acts both as a means of channelling that airflow AND as a means of heat dissipation by the looks of it.
