About this deal

The ability to view connection strength and run speed tests directly from each access point makes it very easy to get the best coverage from your network. (Image credit: Future) Performance and testing The VigorAP 903 can operate in standalone autonomous mode, but can also form part of a centrally managed wireless installation by adding a compatible DrayTek wireless controller such as the Vigor 2862 router (sold separately). This enables you to centrally control, manage and administer multiple AP devices installed around your building/campus. Management also enables efficient usage of your wireless access point through load-balancing, whereby wireless clients are distributed across several access points to reduce congestion. The DrayTek router operating as the wireless controller can provision DrayTek VigorAP access points using the Central AP Management profiles configured on the router, with an option to Auto Provision - auto configuring newly installed VigorAP access points with the Auto Provisioning profile, upon initial connection to the DrayTek Vigor router's network. Five (5) Gigabit Ethernet Ports

PoE is ideal for situations where you do not have mains power available in the exact location where you want to install the VigorAP 903 or just for general aesthetic neatness, perhaps where the AP is installed somewhere prominent. It's also possible to set a VLAN tag for the management interface of the access point, this should only be set on networks that require VLAN tags otherwise access to the access point will not be possible unless that VLAN tag is specified by the device accessing it. The mesh nodes status and other information can be viewed via the DrayTek Wireless App or the Mesh Root's Web Interface. The VigorAP 903 is a simultaneous dual-band AP with 802.11ac Wave 2 WiFi, improving transfer speeds & efficiency with Multi-User MIMO. The five (5) Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports provide a Gigabit uplink for wireless access, and connectivity for additional network devices such as IP phones and printers. Connect a USB printer to share it, or connect a USB thermometer (sold separately) for temperature logging and alerts. The Mesh Root VigorAP links up to your existing Internet router, such as the DrayTek Vigor 2862 and additional VigorAPs join up as Mesh Nodes, which connect wirelessly to the Mesh Root.As your VigorAP 902 unit(s) will be distributed around your building, it's an ideal opportunity to also gather environmental information about those locations. By the addtition of an optional USB temperature sensor, your VigorAP 902 can report real-time local temperature information, show the previous 24 hour's chart and also set high/low alarms to alert/log if the temperature falls above or below your set levels. Using LAN Speed Test, we also benchmarked a laptop connected via 5GHz directly to the 1000C root access point and measured average transfer speeds of 252Mbps at 1m range. At 5m this dropped to 151 Mbps. Out at 10m, with a mesh hop via a 1000C node, we averaged 142 Mbps. At 15m, with two hops, we got a very similar 138Mbps. This shows that the mesh network extends the range with very little drop in performance. It also shows that we get better sustained throughput than indicated by the inbuilt DrayTek speed test – though the latter is still very handy for comparative testing to find the best locations for each mesh node. Easily manage VigorAP access points and mesh wireless with the DrayTek Wireless app for phones and tablets, freely available for both Apple’s iOS (iPad, iPhone) and Google’s Android devices. Each VigorAP 903 has a QR-code to detect and configure that VigorAP with the DrayTek Wireless app, straight out of the box; no need to find it on the network, just plug it in, use the app to connect it to the AP and set it up. Power-over-Ethernet or Mains Powered The root is connected to the Internet router with a network cable. This controls the other VigorAPs in the Mesh Network and provides Internet connectivity. It only has a single 5GHz band (total bandwidth 400Mbps + 867Mbps), but includes external antennas that can be repositioned for better reception, or replaced with higher gain ones for long range.

VigorAP 903 is a high-performance Mesh Wireless solution, designed to expand the wireless coverage, eliminate Wi-Fi dead zones and significantly reduce the cost of network deployments. It can also be used as a traditional access point either managed or stand alone so has the flexibility to be used how you need it. Wave 2 Wireless AP - The VigorAP 903 is a simultaneous dual-band AP with 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi, improving transfer speeds & efficiency with Multi-User MIMO. The 5 Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports provide a Gigabit uplink for wireless access, and connectivity for additional network devices such as IP phones and printers. Connect a USB printer to share it, or connect an optional USB thermometer for temperature logging and alerts. In case of a node failure, the surrounding access points automatically reconnect and resume service without downtime. We tested two VigorAP 1000C APs together, as well as a VigorAP 903 access point, and a Vigor2862 router. We tested with the Android mobile app (Draytek Wireless) on a Pixel 3XL, the VigorConnect software on a Windows 10 laptop, and directly via the 1000C web interface. We used LAN Speed Test v4.4 for speed testing, as well as the inbuilt VigorAP 1000C utility. To set up new Mesh Nodes, simply have the Mesh Root search for new Mesh Nodes. When they're detected, give each VigorAP a name and the VigorMesh system will set up each VigorAP to join into the VigorMesh network. The Mesh will then automatically optimise links between Mesh Nodes to ensure the best network layout with the new Mesh Nodes. DrayTek Mesh - Auto-Optimising, Self-HealingA VigorMesh Wireless network can easily add new Mesh Nodes and self-organises links between up to 8 DrayTek VigorAP access points, to ensure the best possible speeds. If something causes a Mesh Node's uplink to drop out, it automatically re-connects to the next available point and resumes service. The VigorAP connected up to the network will be configured as the Mesh Root. When it's set up as the Mesh Root, it can scan for Mesh Nodes to join the Mesh. Additional new Mesh Nodes can be added when needed to improve network coverage and increase wireless network capacity. The TCP port has been changed. By default, HTTP uses port 80, but you can deliberatelychange that. If you have done so, you need to append the port number to the URL, for example http://192.168.1.1:88.
