Description

The Breville Bambino Plus is the clear winner regarding milk frothing performance. Its automatic milk wand eliminates the need to handle the jug and wait for heating, saving you time and effort in the long run. The Bambino Plus has two buttons that let you choose from three different milk temperature levels and three different texturing levels. This gives you greater control over your foam than the plain Bambino. That said, the Bambino Plus also produces very decent results using pre-ground coffee and the dual-walled basket. Whichever method you opt for you’ll find that the extractions are very consistent and much easier to achieve than when using most other standard espresso machines. Yet, for those looking for a sleek brushed stainless steel finish, the Breville Bambino has it without paying anything extra. Are you a fan of cappuccinos, cortados, and caffè lattes? Then, you’ll love the Breville Bambino Plus. With its single-walled baskets, the Sage The Bambino Plus proved that it could take a fine grind from a high-end coffee grinder: the same one that I use with my Sage The Dual Boiler. The only slight issue is that the design of the group handle meant that it wouldn’t fit under the grinder. I had to first dispense the coffee grounds into a cup and then transfer to the filter basket.

Overall, the Breville Bambino Plus has a better milk frothing performance. I would say thathere is where the price difference becomes more evident between the Breville Bambino and the Bambino Plus. Making a good espresso relies on quite a few factors, and one of them is making sure the coffee grounds are well compacted. To help you do this, a metal tamper is provided, and unlike on many other machines this isn’t attached to the machine itself, which makes it much easier to apply even force to the grounds. Lots of espresso machines also have a plastic tamper, so it’s good to see a more sturdy metal tamper here. Overall, the Breville Bambino is suitable for anyone looking for an affordable espresso machine for home use. Moreover, if you don’t care too much about latte art, the plain Bambino will deliver milk-frothing capabilities up to your expectations. Breville Bambino vs. Bambino Plus: Similarities

The Bambino and the Bambino Plus coffee machines come with a good range of accessories without any meaningful difference. The Breville Bambino Plus is designed for those who take their coffee-making seriously. Included with the coffee machine are four filter baskets for different types of coffee grounds, a tool called the Razor, which helps you expertly level off your coffee grounds so that you can make the smoothest espresso possible, a milk jug, cleaning tools, a removable portafilter, into which you clip the coffee basket before inserting it into the machine, and even a water filter to help improve the taste of your coffee. The Bambino Plus is also a good value for money, offering more milk-frothing features. Finding another compact machine that makes such excellent and reliable milk texturing is hard. However, besides advanced frothing features, the other benefits of the Breville Bambino Plus don’t seem attractive enough to pay that extra money.

The first thing to note about the Bambino is that – like Sage’s other ThermoJet-equipped machines – it’s astonishingly fast to get to brewing temperature. Sage claims that it gets to temperature in 3 seconds and that’s entirely true – by the time you’ve powered the machine on, it’s ready to pour espresso. There’s no waiting around for steam, either: press the button, and after a few immediate spits of water, steam comes gushing through. You may find the coffee a touch cooler and the taste a tad more bitter compared to some top-of-the-range professional machines The steam wand design and power in the Breville Bambino Plus are superior to the Breville Bambino (and many other home espresso machines.) Thanks to these features, the Breville Bambino Plus steam wand works very fast, creating a uniform foam without overheating the milk. Sage is well known for its high-quality appliances, and this espresso machine is no different. The tough-feeling stainless-steel finish has all of the hallmarks of a quality product. The Bambino Plus is also nice and small at 195 x 320 x 310mm, so it won’t take up much room on your kitchen counter.

The Breville Bambino Plus does, of course, come with its own frustrations. That smaller drip tray meant a little more maintenance and the lightweight form factor did require some extra attention when inserting the portafilter. However these design quirks are easy enough to live with. When it comes to the Breville Bambino espresso maker, there is no doubt that it is great value for money. It offers features not found in other machines of its size and price range. In addition, it also comes with Breville’s latest technology and a good steam wand. This makes it an excellent choice for anyone who wants an affordable machine to produce high-quality espresso shots and milk drinks.
