About this deal

Swaps with the Necromunda Enforcers are tough – the heads are different styles and the arm joins are a bit different. It looks feasible to put an Enforcer boltgun on an Arbites model. But of the two-hour session, more time was spent leafing through the various books and trying to figure out what bits of rule went where than was spent rolling dice and pushing figures around on the Board. Kill Team’s pleasure is found in its fast-paced and brutal skirmish combat, not going “Um, is that an induction diode, a quantum nodes or a thermionic annulus?” For all those worried about the dreaded movement symbols, hear this once and for all: moving models and range finding using the shape symbols and combat gauge is absolutely fine. Kill Team, as a skirmish-based variant for Warhammer 40k, has now gone through a total of fouriterations over the years– the third of which was when Games Workshop released it as an official, standalone game , complete with a distinct ruleset, bright orange branding, and starter sets composed of existing models and terrain. a Recruit edition book with the rules for the two kill teams in the box and some tutorial missions.

The rules for this kill team can be found in the Into the Dark book. Read our guide for this brave boarding crew here. Kroot Farstalker Kinband With the lights still on and the Necrons going first, the futuristic murderbots were faced with what may be their last chance to get ahead… Necron Turn 4The head connections are reasonably close to new cadian heads. Swaps might require a little bit of clipping. The Adeptus Arbites are the Imperium’s top cops, and when the High Lords of Terra really want someone apprehended, they turn to the Exaction Squads. These are impossibly severe squads of Arbites with specialist training, sophisticated equipment, and enough muscle to rumble with the galaxy’s most wanted. But the proof is in the pudding, so in keeping with the theme set in my Command Edition review, it was time for Roburte Guillethwaite’s Space Marines to once again face off against the Necrons of the Lizzekh Dynasty. Engage on All Fronts – 1 Victory Point at the end of each battle round for a figure in each quarter of the map Still, after a couple of games, minor assembly niggles fade into insignificance – and the book-passingfaff ceases to be a real concern, as you’ll have memorised most of the key bits and bobs for both Kill Teams by then. Octarius is, for the most part, a well put together, well presented starter set – and, once you settle into this game’s rhythm, you won’t mind so much about the stumbles along the way, because (spoiler) Kill Team 2.0 is a really good game.

At the other end of the Board, the ongoing melee between the Heavy Gunner and the remaining Flayer continued – but this time, the Flayer was successful, and killed the Heavy Gunner. However, due to the layout of the terrain, there was nothing they could do at the end of their turn as the Space Marines were out of range and could not be seen. Space Marine Turn 1

The Terrain

The whole direction of the Pariah Nexus box is to take Kill Team and ram it into the claustrophobic confines of a Forty-First Millennium slaughterhouse. The new rules are designed around fighting with terrain features such as walls, doors and other narrative points always looming over your team.

We’ve covered the vast majority of the terrain in this box previously, which may either be a good thing or a bad thing for you based on personal preference. If you only want to go in on one of the boxes, or want to snag both and build out a boarding action table for one of the x0k games, go nuts. If you (like many of us), see KT boxes as a Trojan horse for getting cool new 40k terrain for our regular use tables, this would be a let down. It’s possible that there would be a pivot, but this does make us wonder if boxes three and four will have these walls as well?

The fun times aren’t just for the VII and XVI Legions, however – the book also provides full rules for playing games of Zone Mortalis, fresh core and narrative missions, a new campaign system, Legiones Decurion upgrades to represent skilled tank commanders, the Infernus Abomination for the Traitor Legions, and rules and lore for Inductii of every Legion – unstable Astartes hastily recruited while the Heresy was in full swing.* Campaigns of The Age of Darkness: The Siege of Cthonia (ePub) This is a complete set of ten unique sculpts – no duplicated sprue of five here! All but one of the poses are great – there’s one hunched over running pose that I think doesn’t quiiiiite work, but it’s not bad enough to actually matter. It also comes with two of each special weapon (other than the sniper rifle), each with a slightly different set of arms. This is where my only real complaint about the set lies – if you want to use them in Kill Team and aren’t just buying for your 40k army, it’s fairly easy to make an illegal squad. You must read the composition rules in the rulebook first rather than relying on the instruction manual, as you’re only allowed to take one of each weapon (to a maximum of four total, including the sniper rifle).
