About this deal

At some point before he attained his Captaincy, Ventris was seconded to the Deathwatch, the Chamber Militant of the Ordo Xenos that specialized in hunting xenos threats. [4x] [5] When setting objective markers up on the battlefield, place them so they are centred on the point specified by the mission. When measuring distances to and from objective markers, measure to and from the closest part of them. Models can move over objective markers as if they were not there, but they cannot end a move on top of an objective marker. Instead of death, their punishment was to be bound to a Death Oath and exiled from the Chapter. All insignia of the Ultramarines, which included the symbol on their shoulderguards, were removed. Upon leaving the Fortress of Hera to embark on the March of Shame, they were commanded by Calgar to seek and destroy daemonic womb creatures, the Daemonculaba, seen in a vision by the Chief Librarian Varro Tigurius. [6] [7] Uriel delivered an ultimatum to the T'au; either their forces withdrew unharmed, or he would have the 4th Company Strike Cruiser Vae Victus unleash an Exterminatus action on Pavonis to deny the planet to the T'au. Realising Ventris' threats were not empty, the T'au reluctantly retreated.

Mighty heroes fight at the forefront of battle. Some CHARACTER units have ‘Leader’ listed on their datasheets. Such CHARACTER units are known as Leaders, and the units they can lead – known as their Bodyguard units – are listed on their datasheet. Despite his initial disquiet at Idaeus' unorthodox methods, Ventris saw merit in them, and in time would become just as unconventional as his mentor. Honsou, faced with capture or death, detonated the explosives the Iron Warriors had previously placed around the Tomb, collapsing the grand edifice of the Tomb on top of himself and his opponents. Uriel and some of his fellow warriors survived and headed to Talassar, an Ultramaran world where M'kar and his Daemon army were close to overrunning Chapter Master Calgar and his dwindling forces. Uriel and other friendly reinforcements arrived in the midst of the final, climactic battle for the world. Ventris tossed the powerful anti-Daemonic Blade of Ventanus to Calgar as the Chapter Master was duelling with M'kar, and Calgar used it to completely annihilate the Daemon Prince. The headline release for the event is the latest entry in Graham McNeill’s chronicles of Uriel Ventris, as The Swords of Calth sets the Ultramarines captain on a new path. After crossing the Rubicon Primaris, Ventris must adjust to his new body even as old enemies return to wage war against Guilliman’s sons.

If you’ve read any of the novels, you’ll know that Ventris is famed for his unconventional solutions to battlefield problems, which is reflected in his Unorthodox Strategist ability.

You can add Captain Uriel Ventris to any army with the Ultramarines faction keyword for 110 points or 6 Power. For this cost, he brings everything you’d expect from a Primaris Captain to the table and a fair bit more. Crusade is a cool way to play, and is definitely a more casual, fluffy approach, so more rules for it are nice if they don’t take away from the core experience. Some weapons have ‘Blast’ listed in their profile’s abilities. These are referred to as Blast weapons. In addition to the normal rules, the following rules apply to Blast weapons:

If the Tactical Doctrine was active for your army during the previous battle round, you can change it so that the Assault Doctrine is now active. Newly promoted after the death of his mentor, Captain Ventris leads his warriors to the world of Pavonis, plagued by Drukhari raiders and riven with political infighting. As he unravels a conspiracy, Ventris discovers that an ancient evil lurks beneath the surface of Pavonis, and that not all his allies are quite what they appear. If you’ve read any of the novels, you’ll know that Ventris is famed for his unconventional solutions to battlefield problems, which is reflected in his Unorthodox Strategist ability. This allows him to reduce the CP cost of the Adaptive Strategy Stratagem from Codex: Space Marines , letting you react to the changing situation in your games and disrupt enemy plans with ease. As the Chaos assault worsened and the Loyalist defenders of Ultramar found themselves slowly losing ground, Ultramarines Chapter Master Marneus Calgar despatched Ventris to find the primarch, now the ruling lord commander of the Imperium, and seek his help in safeguarding their common home. Uriel Ventris is a flexible military commander who due to the efforts of his mentor, Captain Idaeus, learned to think outside the confines of the Codex Astartes, the masterpiece of Roboute Guilliman and the manual of war that most Space Marine Chapters base their tactics, strategy and organisation upon.

Since his boltgun is Rapid Fire, it becomes even more effective if Ventris stays still thanks to Bolter Discipline. Captain Uriel Ventris prepares for battle with meditations upon the will of the Emperor of Mankind and his Primarch Roboute Guilliman. Ventris assisted Captain Bannon and his team in capturing a Lictor; this proved pivotal during the war, as Kryptman's Magos Biologis aide, Vianco Locard, was able to concoct venom from the Lictor's genetic structure that would send an early generation Tyranid into hyper-evolution, killing the creature. Unfortunately, the only way to utilize this venom effectively was to board the last remaining Hive Ship in orbit and infect the Tyranids' Norn-Queen. [4x] Upon arriving on the planet, the Space Marines were further supported by the 10th Logres regiment led by Colonel Octavius Rabelaq, the 933rd Death Korps of Krieg led by Colonel Trymon Stagler, and the PDF Regiments headed by Major Aries Satria. Lord Inquisitor Kryptman was also present to impart his extensive knowledge of the Tyranids to help the war effort, along with a Deathwatch Kill-team led by Captain Bannon. [4x] In the aftermath of that campaign, following the departure of Guilliman for Terra during the Terran Crusade, Ultramar came under a renewed assault by the servants of the Plague God Nurgle that was led by the Daemon Primarch Mortarion and his Death Guard Traitor Legion, a conflict known as the Plague Wars.
