About this deal

The stripping blade I thought would penetrate too deeply and score all the way to the core when stripping long lengths but I have yet been able to make it do so. Let's give it a go. When you're ready, just put your coax in. Pull it off and hey presto, ready to go. Next lets go on to some network cable, this is cat 5. I would still recommend everyone to have them in there tool bag as they are handy when the cable comes out a wall and your unable to get a close strip with conventional cutters. Wire strippers are a hand-held tool also known as cable strippers which are designed to remove insulation or outer sheath from electrical wires and cables without damaging the core wire. There are various types available from stripping the cable and cutting copper and each is made with components and materials to best suit their application. You can find out more in our wire stripper tool guide.

All right guys, just a little review on a KNIPEX ErgoStrip. I find this tool very handy in the right circumstances. Everybody's seen these automated strippers, they're good, everybody knows the concept. They work, squeeze it, strips the cable. Great. They're alright with three core, but the moment you go anything bigger, like this four core, nothing just fits in. That's when I tend to find these little KNIPEX ErgoStrippers are brilliant. They have al the holes down the side for small cable, a tool for ringing cable, splitter, and then they've got a little one for Coaxial cable. All you do is, there's a little clip on the side, push it, open the spring load mechanism, put in your cable and twist it and snap it. Now, when you have a long one like this as well it's very useful, because on the side of this there is a little blade. You can just run it down the edge, close it, clamp it, apply a bit of pressure, run it down, and it just peels that cable off very, very nice for you. Generally for most plugs a 7mm length of exposed wire is all that is needed to get the correct connection. The best feature I have found is the blade to strip long sections of cable. This is very easily done by placing the cable in the side of the tool with a blade. Apply pressure and draw along the cable, and it will score the outer sheath without damaging the inner cores. This would be particularly useful when making off a long length of FP cable.

Hi guys, Expert Trades have sent out another handy wee tool, this time it's a KNIPEX ErgoStrip. Now this is a great wee tool, opens up and cable goes in. I'm going to show you how in a wee second, and does any round cable, strips the end of it, even does your cat cable, and this, like a lot of tools, I was wondering if you there is data or evidence to demonstrate that this method is not acceptable. Look at that as if by magic, stripped. And if you want to, get your right cable size. We can see the markings on the side here which you may actually struggle to see in the camera, but there really is markings on there, I promise you. And we've got 1.5. It achieves good clean and accurate cuts, though will have a tendency to lightly score the inner cable sheath if you are over zealous with pressure when rotating.

Step 2 – Insert Cable: Insert the cable in to the correct hole and position the cut line in the centre of the hole, just below the cutting/stripping blade Finally, using Blade Runner, cut through only the sheath and remove leaving the stripped and prepared cable ready for termination. Step 4 – Remove Cut Sheath: Withdraw the cable from the tool and then simply pull the cut sheath off and away So you put it in where you want to start, and pull along and then if you're on a few longer lengths you want to snap it as you go. That will actually cut along the line for you. Easier again. If you want to use it on armoured, go right ahead. Step 5 – Strip Inner Cores: Repeat the above process to strip each of the inner core cables. Some tools will have a separate smaller hole for the core cables and some won’t

Rules and Regulations for Electrical Work

Convy’s Adjustable Automatic Cable Wire Stripper is marketed as an automotive wiring tool that saves time when wiring sound systems. Put it on, pull it which then scores it and should then break open. It should break open, it just doesn't know it yet. There we go, there's your cat 6.

I found that they were awkward to use, at first, and I would typically cut through further than desired. They are very sharp! After a few weeks of using them it did become easier to use however I still prefer to use typical cable cutters. If you need any additional assistance when it comes to staying safe when working on and around electrics, see our electrical safety project here. Tools and Materials Needed for Stripping Cable It's a brilliant little tool. I've had it in the tool bag for a couple of weeks now, and the last job that I was just doing, with loads of LED tape, I couldn't do without it. The smaller stranded cable, I was literally pulling and it was pulling the end off and giving a nice clean cut without damaging the inner cores. Klein’s 11063W model is an automatic wire stripper that can remove up to an inch of insulation with a single motion. And then we just pull off. Oh, get in there. My fingers are a little fiddly today. See, it comes off nice and easy, ready to go in to your main switch.

How to Strip Flex

The new C.K armourslice ‘strips away the hassle’ of preparing SWA cable for electricians, allowing the job to be done up to 50% faster compared with traditional methods, and ensures a perfect cut eveytime, includes free utility blade. It's actually really comfortable to use. I would say you could use all day. If you're stripping cables all day, it's not very exciting job. But hey ho the life of an apprentice and the life of an electrician is always a good one. Hi, it's Dan from Hodgson Electrical. Today, I'm reviewing the Knipex ErgoStrip Tool. On first impressions, the tool seems well built and is made in Germany. This is first time using the tool. And like most men, the instructions went straight in the bin. So let's see how easy it is to use.

So we've got a slightly smaller piece of flex here off a light fitting. Slide it in the little casing. So you could do really long lengths with this as well. So you rotate slightly, give it little mark, take it off, flip the tool around, and you've got a little stripping tool at the end there. Lay it in, pull, and then you can open up the cable nice and easily and strip without damaging the cable. And the internal conductors in the little clam, bang, bang, bang. Nice and easy.

Tools and Materials Needed for Stripping Cable

REVOLUTIONARY: The must have tool for anyone working with cables and wires, this easy to use technology will reduce project time as well as stress caused! Simply insert the wire between the two machined jaws at the head of the tool and squeeze. The jaws clamp down automatically selecting the right tension to hold the wire without damaging it, and removes insulation. A swivel knob can be adjusted for use with smaller wires when more tension is required Step 1 – Mark Strip Point: First, measure and mark the length of cable that needs to be stripped on the outer sheath Explains general manager of Ideal Industries EMEA, Brett Smyth: “Ideal is a global leader and innovator in the design of wire strippers and that heritage makes us the brand that electrical professionals trust around the world. Ideal wire strippers were specifically requested for the manned mission to the moon because of their reputation for quality and precision, even in the most extreme environments.“
