The characters in this series are so realistic that it's as though I've known them for ages. Once again, through her excellent writing skills, and a balanced mix of suspense, humour and romance, the author has weaved yet another clever plot that kept me engrossed throughout. A dramatic scene towards the end left me gasp for air and I was on tenterhooks to see how it will all end. Who will die? Who will survive? I certainly wasn't expecting the ingenious (and believable) way in which the author ties up all loose ends at the end. Clever girl! If you have not yet experienced this series you can pretty much start anywhere with it. I have also recently read book four and that one is bloody fantastic also. Of course starting at the beginning is never a bad idea, certainly to get to know DCI Ryan who is one of my favourite crime characters of any books around at the moment, but the books are clever in that you could read any as a stand-alone and not feel lost in the wilderness.
