About this deal

Its namesake is obviously THE Richard Hennessy, founder of what is now the most popular cognac and largest producer in the world. Created in 1996, to honor the legacy of Richard Hennessy, it features blends from 40 – 200 years of aging. All that aging means only one thing – it is expensive…and probably quite a good cognac. The Alphabet Explained The company's flagship product is Hennessy VS, a blend of more than 40 different cognacs that are aged for a minimum of two years in French oak barrels. Hennessy also produces many other cognacs, including XO, Paradis, and Privilege.

X.O. – X.O. refers to “Extra Old” and this blend is usually aged for at least a decade. Originally, the Hennessy brand used the X.O. aging terms for blends specially bottled for family and close friends. The Hennessy X.O. sells at a relatively affordable price although it’s the only blend aged for at least 10 years. Tasting Notes: Every sip was a symphony of refined flavors. The complexity and depth of this Cognac are unmatched, with layers of dried fruits, warm spices, and a velvety texture that lingered on the palate. Now, this Hennessy bottle is highly exclusive with only 100 bottles ever produced. The limited edition bottle was introduced by Richard Hennessy’s direct descendant, Killian Hennessy, while the custom elegant chest it is housed in was designed by Jean-Michel Othoniel. One of the requirements of French Law for producing Cognac is that the grapes to be used must be grown in the Cognac region. Hennessy is expensive due to its costly distillation process. The cognac typically involves the use of grapes (not grains like cheap cognac) and distilled wine juice, both of which are expensive processes.

Tasting Notes: With each sip, I discover a harmonious blend of flavors, from luscious fruits to delicate floral notes, all wrapped in a velvety texture. Paradis Imperial Cognac is a Hors d’ Age cognac, a French term used to describe old spirits since at least the 1870s or has a minimum of 30 years [ 4 ]. Pour 25ml of your preferred Hennessy Cognac into a tulip glass. Roll the glass in the palm of your hand to coax the liquid slowly to body temperature. Hennessy H8 is a cognac made with a blend of Eaux-de-vie at least eight years old. The H in the name stands for Hennessy, and the 8 represents the minimum age of the Eaux-de-vie used in the blend. This cognac is an excellent choice for those who appreciate smooth, well-rounded cognacs. The nose of this cognac is filled with notes of vanilla, chocolate, and dried fruits.

Tasting Notes: I had the incredible chance to taste Hennessy Paradis Imperial and let me tell you, it’s pure luxury in a bottle. This special blend is like journeying through flavors – from sweet honey to gentle spices – all wrapped in a smooth and velvety texture. Hennessy Varieties Explained Hennessy VSOP Cognac is created to keep bitters and sweet that the flavor bursts once poured in an old-fashioned way.

A bottle of Hennessy H8 has Eaux-de-vie blends of 30-50 years at minimum to a century with 40% ABV.

generations of Master Blenders served the Hennessy, and almost 70 million bottles of Hennessy are sold every year around the world. By the mid-19 th century, Hennessy was the largest cognac producer in the world, exporting to the USA and the rest of Europe. Now, this is a status that the Hennessy brand, amongst the very few global brands, has managed to maintain to date.Given its name, one could assume that this blend features many old, prized Eaux-de-vie amongst its ingredients. It would appear that the more finesse and consideration a cognac requires, the higher its price may be. With that, let’s look at the older, wiser, more expensive (about two grand more expensive, that is) brother to Paradis: Paradis Imperial. Hennessy Paradis Imperial As the largest brandy producer in the world, Hennessy sells over 50 million bottles a year! The distilling process uses premium ingredients which results in a very smooth, high quality line of Cognacs known world wide. Hennessy: A Brief History

As you can imagine, the cognac community is quite tight-knit, given its small regional requirements. The majority of the more popular cognacs originate around the same time frame (early to mid 1700s). Here is a list of alternatives to Hennessy that are quite popular in their own right and similar in price point. Brand Interestingly, the oak itself alters the final taste of the Cognac, offsetting the sweeter, fruitier notes with a dry nuttiness, resulting in a well-rounded flavor profile. Age is just a number

The alphabet is your guide to Hennessy.

Like the Louis XIII Cognac, it comprises 1200 different Eaux-de-vie acquired from the Grand Champagne in the Cognac Region of France. The reasoning behind the higher average price point can seem elusive but can really be pinned down to one thing: specificity of ingredients. Cognac must be made in the Cognac region of France. It is required to be made from white wine grapes grown in the region.
