About this deal

I'm sure the nations leading psychologists might theorize that my "issues" with female characters probably stem from a place of jealousy. Even if It is just a book, it presents very real scenarios in everyday life that will have you questioning the way you live.

The Writing -The book has a slow start as you go through the everyday small routines of a college girl. I recently read a book that I KNEW one of the main characters was going to die and I was preparing myself for it the entire time I was reading. These two loved each other unconditionally, the lines of friendship having been blurred once these two were firmly putting their best friends label first even though at times you knew, ideally in another world, another scenario that these two were meant to be together. This is the first time in an NA book were although I liked the romance it was not the main thing why I kept reading. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the last 25% of the book that completely blew me away, I would’ve given this book 2 stars.

The writing style is fluid, beautiful, emotional, captivating, gut wrenching, all encompassing, this book takes you over, heart, mind, body and soul. I also thought this book would be one where I wouldn't be interested in reading the companion book, but thankfully I really want to read the book. Leaving her closest friend Gus behind, Kate heads off to college and meets the guy she never expects to meet. She was a good idea in theory, I suppose, but her whole character felt like a conceptualization instead of a living breathing thing. Kate has been blessed with a unique and enduring friendship with her buddy Gus, an up and coming musician with his band Rook.

This is one of those stories that hits your heart hard and carries messages that will leave you contemplating what’s important in life…you know… don’t sweat the small stuff. First attractions are something that are new to Bright Side she's taken with Keller instantly and their relationship blossoms gradually. Kate was a fantastic protagonist, and although there are plenty of chapters from Keller’s perspective, I enjoyed hers the most.

If you are getting into this book with the expectation of a great epic romance, I am sorry you may be disappointed.

This extraordinary girl exudes a light and warmth that draws people to her and really possesses a truly beautiful soul.Sure, some people have that magnetic charm or an enveloping warmth you can’t help but love immediately. But let me tell you there's nothing in the world like achieving something you've dreamt about for years and years. I don’t want to spoil the story for anyone so I’m just going to take some time to talk about the characters.

There was so much repetition in Kate’s narrative, some of which were supposed to be bits of her personality. Every scene between these two made me smile, and I loved that Gus ALWAYS made time for Kate, even though all this crazy, exciting stuff was happening in his life. Keller was living a life pleasing others, never taking his own happiness into account, carrying secrets from his past that weighed him down. But you had that reaction from a happy book haha, I’m not sure how you would cope with this one lol!In plain English, this means that I may receive a small commission (at no cost to you) if you purchase something through the links provided. Ok lets start from the beginning, we have a beautiful bright character that literally loves the world NO wrong word she loves LIFE she loves to breathe the air and she takes every day as a new day she enjoys every moment, everything she does or creates is with purpose to LOVE she takes chances on everything, you know when you walk past a person and you think that guy could do with a friend? There were times it did feel a bit cliché but at the end of the day these thoughts were soon forgotten and I find myself reflecting on the feelings I experienced and what a profound effect this book had on me. As you can probably tell from the title of the book, Kate has a tendency to look on the bright side of life, but not in a sickly, saccharine Pollyanna kind of a way… Kate is simply a tough person, who has had to deal with… to put it bluntly, a lot of shit in her life, but has remained strong throughout and has never once complained about the hand she’s been dealt. Then there's Gus (who I hear is getting his own book), and Keller, and Clayton, and Stella, and pretty much every character in this book.
