Dynamic’ HDR formats such as Dolby Vision are capable of adapting to the limitations of low-end 4K TVs, whereas ‘static’ HDR formats such as HLG and HDR10 rely more heavily on a TV’s natural talents. If there are any defects or noticeable marks/scratches we will attach pictures of the item and the description will detail any cosmetic damage on the items. So much so, in fact, that it’s actually closer in performance to the LG UM7400 ( which we reviewed in August 2019). There are plenty of ports with 3x HDMI ports and 2 USB ports to connect your games consoles and set top boxes. Plus, with HDR content you'll see a greater depth of colour and brilliant brightness for a more realistic viewing experience – those BBC documentaries have never looked so good.

There’s oodles of detail on offer, and just enough brightness to give images a decent amount of pop and excitement. Forget flipping between apps – you’ll find all your favourite shows on the home screen of this JVC Fire TV. Don’t get me wrong, SD channels aren’t bad, I just notice the limitations more on this tv than I do on my Panasonic 50”. In fact, the Alexa integration really does work rather nicely in tandem with the king-sized display – in some ways it’s rather like a giant Echo Show ( read our review here). The USB connector allows access to jpeg photos and mp3 music of most USB-sticks (USB memory-class device). Some mention it does most things capably, works well with Alexa, and has smart features as expected. JVC Fire TV is a new generation of television featuring the Fire TV experience built-in and including a Voice Remote with Alexa. You’ll see recommendations from Prime Video, Netflix, Disney , and Apple TV – and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

If you’re looking for a large sound that doesn’t come across as cluttered or overbearing, you’ll be happy with this TV’s audio performance – but investing in a separate soundbar is the easiest way to boost the sound performance on offer here. There are pretty much as many inputs as you could possibly want and of course it has the digital audio outputs. I don't watch live TV and having the ability to access the Internet and apps on my TV itself rather than the previous method of using a firestick allows me to free up a port for other devices as well a s ring more convenient. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. The limited 4GB of internal storage also means that you won’t be able to install too many apps before running out of space, and you may need to add more storage in the form of a USB thumb drive or similar before too long. Fire TV Edition seamlessly integrates live broadcast TV and streaming channels on a unified home screen (TV aerial required). Obviously my Denon amp has various input sources on the back and when the optical cable is in use TV Audio is selected. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products.

Images look soft, smeary and lacking in detail, and this combines with the poor motion handling to make for some very unimpressive results. Great picture quality, only little criticism I have is that it takes a little while after turning on for the picture to appear but not a major issue. I was expecting to be able to output the audio from the TV via the HDMI connected to the ARC port on the TV going to the ARC of my Denon x2400h AVR.Once you’re into the Fire TV interface proper, you’re faced with a familiar set of tiles offering apps, recently watched programmes and suggestions of things you might want to watch.

And the directional pad and central button make light work of navigating through the various menus and apps. Good picture quality, smart services and access to applications all direct via the TV with no need for other connections such as Fire Sticks. For a couple with not much technical knowledge it was easy to set up and we seemed to be up and running in no time. The guarantee is back to base which means in the unlikely event of a fault you can take the TV back to any of our 5 branches for repair. If you want reasonable quality HDR on the cheap the LG UM7400 is a far better bet but if you can find the JVC going cheap then it may still be worth considering as a bedroom or second-room TV.I live in a small flat, the size is not too overbearing and fits nicely in the corner, it does not make the room feel small as others so claim it would. Each member of the family can have their own profile, so your dramas won’t get mixed in with the kids’ favourites. Those colours aren’t as intense as they should be in HDR mode, though, so don’t expect the kind of eye-popping colour which you get from pricier sets – the JVC covers a mere 70% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, which is far less than even many mid-range TVs.
