Each turn, players select a card from their hand - which are numbered from one to seven - with the lower numbered cards putting the players further in front of the pack, whereas the higher numbers leave players trailing behind. When only two players remain in the game, then whichever player manages to get out in front survives the shark attack and becomes the winner, whilst the other player character becomes shark food. Ted's swimmer moves to the front next, because his card number does not tie either, and is a higher number than Anne's. The reason is that while played cards stay in front of players, a player gets all played cards back to use again if either they are bit or they have only one card in hand.

A player is eliminated when all four of his or her robot’s limbs are removed, and the game continues until all players but two have been eliminated. As in many of the previous editions of the game, the player miniatures have detachable limbs that can be removed to represent the number of shark bites they’ve received throughout the game, whilst the shark miniature looks distinctly metallic and has a hinge jaw to simulate chomping. They perform functions like preventing the same ad from continuously reappearing, ensuring that ads are properly displayed for advertisers, and in some cases selecting advertisements that are based on your interests. The mechanic that makes Get Bit work so well is that cards you have previously played are visible to all players.It’s easy to learn and it will have you and your fellow gamers in stitches as you fall victim to the shark, or ditch your mates right in the biting line.
