I didn’t know I was going to care about Willem this much but considering I didn’t like Allyson until the very end, that shouldn’t have been that much of a surprise. However, I guess the beauty in these missed opportunities lies in the fact that they weren’t quite ready to collide until they both discovered themselves first. Willem was a tough nut to crack and I went through the majority of the book not feeling any sort of compassion towards him, no pity for his plight, when I think that would have been the regular response. In those early days, while I was certainly no Elon fanboy, I was optimistic that expanding verification might solve some of the issues on the platform.

When he opens his eyes, Willem doesn’t know where in the world he is—Prague or Dubrovnik or home in Amsterdam. he’s angry at her and he misses her and he misses his home and his dad and how things used to be and you can feel it through the paper. This was not at all the book I expected (I avoided reviews, so I assumed Just One Year would pick up where Just One Day left off, but actually stars at the beginning of the "One Year" timeline in Just One Day). Suddenly, however, Dee realizes he's not gay and decides to pay Allyson and Willem a surprise visit to tell Allyson a deep, dark secret that he's been harboring since the day they met.Watch out for reviews of Lessons in Chemistry, The Fortunes of Olivia Richmond and The Botanist – as I get ready for another year’s reading. And ever since I finished reading it I was hoping to read something of a similar plotline and intensity from her again.

Just One Day left me with a craving and curiosity to dive even deeper into the lives of Forman's newest cast of characters, where Allyson and Willem enjoy a chance meeting that unfortunately ends after just one day. I loved the banter that started with a sort of antagonistic edge and then steadily picked up sizzle as the book progressed. I.e, I've got Jan 1st, 2021, Feb 1st, 2021, March 1st 2021, etc, instead of Jan 2001, Feb 2001, March 2001. Their awkward beginning quickly turns into a close friendship that eventually sparks into a powerful attraction that Caleb is fiercely opposed to pursuing because he’d never willingly break Teagan’s heart.

Teagan and Caleb have a profound impact on each other that if I may say so is life-changing for both of them.
