Levi is potentially one of KC’s most vulnerable heroes—he has gone through a lot, and made some bad choices, although this part of his history is never dwelled upon or treated casually—but I loved how carefully he is treated.

Like the book tried to really dissect some topics that were pretty heavy for the characters, and just didn’t do it all that well. The last thing Levi wants, while he’s waiting for the renovations on his own house to be complete, is to be in Georgie’s way, especially when she’s a ball of talkative sunshine while he has trouble conversing with a stranger at the best of times.Georgie’s plans hit a snag when she comes face to face with an unexpected roommate — Levi Fanning, onetime town troublemaker and current town hermit. It made me feel about a million years old but then I asked my 20-year old sister if it’s like cool term I’m unaware of and she said it was “cringey”. Both Georgie and Levi are special and extremely likable characters who seem lost and exhausted, unsure of how to move forward with their lives.

Long story short, and this was—looking back—an incredibly long story (sorry): Georgie, All Along is an absolutely phenomenal book. Without going into detail, both Georgie and Levi go through some tough stuff at the end, and while I didn't love exactly how those hard moments were catalyzed (this is maybe my only major complaint about the book), the emotional aftermath of the low moment is done really well. All in all, this read like a shallow “dramedy” rather than the romantic comedy I expected but this novel failed to realise its potential. As Georgie and Levi spend time together, Levi also has work to do on more than just building a dock. Clayborn (Georgie, All Along) takes readers on an engrossing road trip romance that doubles as a journey of self-discovery.Both of these main characters go through dramatic transformations during the course of the storyline. Despite all the time we spend tethered to screens, the truth is that humans live with technology, not in it--at least for now. Kate Clayborn's writing is magnetic and witty and expansive, and her characters feel as real and solid to me as my own limbs. Levi is the local bad boy turned good but these days he lives a very small quiet life sticking mostly to his home and work life. I read a review on here that said this book is mostly just character thoughts with little to no plot and I would absolutely agree.

The author delivers a heartfelt romance with occasional spicy scenes that tackles some deeper themes if one reads it in its entirety. However, he has a successful business now, is somewhat antisocial, and is tenderhearted with his dog, Hank. I don't want to say the "friend fic" has nothing to do with how this book creates its own version of a genre staple. She didn’t amount to much at school and never had any real ambitions beyond it; but her ability to live completely in the ‘now’, to adapt and to think on her feet proved to be exactly suited to working as a PA to high-powered (and high-maintenance) intensely creative – and often intensely chaotic – people in the entertainment industry. Georgie Mulcahy is a delight, and the sweet and tender romance she finds, in the most unexpected of places, will make readers beam.As the two make their way through her wish list, Georgie begins to realize that what she truly wants might not be in the pages of her diary after all, but right by her side – if only they can both find a way to let go of the pasts that hold them back.
