Description

This fragrance makes me think of a tropical garden after an evening rain. In fact, Midnight Rain evokes the memory of a childhood visit to southeast Asia. Fruity top notes and an earthy base combine to form a rich, lush scent that's sultry, yet light. I remembered it more beautiful, or maybe my nose has changed. It is no doubt a rich scent that reminds of rain, warm soil and something sweet coming through. However I received a decant and it reminded me of some sweet Axe deodorant that became so popular in the early 00s, I guess the deo could have been influenced by perfume launches like Midnight Rain. So I am partly sad that a memory has been ruined (or only turned?) and at the same time relieved to have one discontinued item less on the want shelf. I'm not very familiar of guava note in perfumes, but upon spraying, La Prairie Silver Rain strongly reminds me of a drink with guava flavour that I had tried before. It's a pungent, intense fruity smell mixed with a heavy dose of sugar. I'm fully aware that guava is a note listed in La Prairie Midnight Rain, but the sample I got was an offical one for Silver Rain. Unless it got mixed up by La Prairie themselves, I guess that's it then. :) Absolutely beautiful fruity floral. The apple comes through on a beautiful blend of woods, mosses, sugar and more. On me this smells clean and fresh - I love wearing this in summer. It's sparkly and refreshing and the bottle is gorgeous - has a great "feel". This fragrance is sure to please a very wide range of fragrance lovers. It's perfectly balanced and well blended.

i dabed only a few drops of this luxury juice on my wrists, and the sillage is yet amazing. staying power - as far - very promising. As it dries down, it becomes even warmer and also wonderfully creamy. The patchouli is joined by plummy blossoms, a very feminine and soft musk and the cashmere wood, a note I never gave much thought to, but it really does wonders here. The sillage and longevity are impressive. Unfortunately for me, this means that the middle section of that sharp peppery smell lasts far too long. I basically count down the hours until the finish...Many users say that they get ecstatic feeling sniffing this perfume, which tells that composition is real masterpiece. Afterwards, when Silver Rain gradually mellows, the guava impression does fade away, and I'm able to perceive it as a creamy mixture of juicy berries, plum, green apple and vanilla, with patchouli anchoring it. But overall, it remains quite sweet and the development is relatively linear. And I don't particularly smell any oud, contrary to it being voted quite high up above. To the scent. This is patchouli done to perfection. You can definitely smell it in there but it smells GOOD. I'm not a patchouli fan in general, but in this I not only tolerate, I love it. It mixes so well with the vanilla orchid and guava. I can definitely also smell the plum blossom and pomegranate. This is kind of sweet but not overly so, cause the patchouli grounds everything, but this is not a dirty patchouli. MR is a deep scent but still kinda fresh at the same time, if that is possible. I would wear this either day or night, spring, summer, fall and winter. You could say that it has a little bit of a tropical vibe to it, because of the guava, but it still smells classy.

it opens berry-juicy with delicious green apple accord and spices. oh how mutch i do love the anis accord in this!!! yumm the heart opens with a bold rose in full bloom, followed by sugar coted petals of powdery jasmin, creamy magnolia and at least a bite of ripe plum. on this stage i can really smell the different aromas, heavenly blendet to a very delightful creamy-sweet aroma. And when it gets down to that musky cashmere wood baby softness, I'm in a bliss into the next day. Oh, it's lovely.Vetiver is the 11th fragrance note in La Prairie Life Threads Silver. Chrysopogon zizanioides, commonly known as vetiver and khus, is a perennial bunchgrass of the family Poaceae. Wow, this is beautiful! I never tried Forbidden Euphoria, but Midnight Rain is everything I wanted Euphoria to be. It's a similar kind of scent, just much better in every aspect: Less harsh, more creamy, better use of fruity notes, more rounded. But enough with the comparisons, Midnight Rain can stand on its own!

I remember testing Silver Rain sometime last year and finding it a little too heavy on the berries. When I read that Midnight Rain also featured dominant fruity accords, I must admit that I feared it to be just as potent as its predecessor. What is it about this expression, "Angel clone", that I do not understand? I know what ANGEL is. I believe that I understand the meaning of the word 'clone'. Why is every other sweet floriental in The Holey[sic] Book dismissed derisively as an "Angel clone"? Oh well.MR isn't more expensive than fragraces from D&G or Chanel, so I don't mind the pricetag for a frag of this quality. The longevity is about 4-6 hours on me, or even longer but after that it's more of a soft, sweet skinscent (same as other high end frags). After about 4-5 hours I feel like I want to refresh, to make it stronger.
